This grape is harvested in the warm, deep valley of a service road (Akasztófa dűlő) in Siklós and it is grown completely chemical-free with crop control (80 cwt/ha), manual harvesting and grape sorting, all coming together in a wonderful balanced vintage.
Owing to a 12-month maturation in 225 litre second fill oak barrels, we can enjoy a pleasant astringent taste of aromas of ripe, fleshy fruits like cherries and sour cherries, blended with barrel spices.
This is a young wine with tight tannin structure, medium tannin content and a long finish.
Suggested drinking temperature is between 14-15 ’C. The wine wonderfully accompanies red meat dishes but it is also very drinkable just on its own.
This wine is one of the winemaker’s favorites that was harvested on the top of the sunniest southern hillside of Siklós. A 12-month ageing period was perfectly enough as the wine was intended halfway between light and full-bodied premium wines.
This is a nice and genuine Villány wine, wonderfully representing the breed Riczu Tamás is so proud of.
