Villány Protected Designation of Origin PREMIUM Dry Red Wine
Bottles produced: 2,720
Made from 100% Kékfrankos grapes.
Harvest date: 27 September 2022
The grapes come from the warm basin of the Akasztófa vineyard in Siklós, part of the Villány wine region.
Cultivated without chemicals, with yield limitation (78 q/ha), hand-harvested, and from a beautiful, balanced vintage.
Thanks to 15 months of ageing in 225-liter first- and second-fill Hungarian, French, and American oak barrels, the aroma of ripe, fleshy fruits – cherry and sour cherry – blends with the intense character of oak spices, creating a wonderfully pleasant wine with a slightly tart flavor in the glass.
A young wine with a tight acidity structure, medium tannin content, and long finish.
The winemaker recommends enjoying it at 15–18°C, either with red meats or simply on its own, especially for lovers of Kékfrankos wines.
Harvested from the highest point of the best south-facing hill of Siklós, one of the winemaker’s favorite grape varieties. The 15-month barrel ageing, mostly in second-fill barrels, was intended as a bridge between lighter and full-bodied wines, but due to its richness, it belongs in the premium category. The result is an exceptionally fine red wine, strongly expressing the varietal character of Kékfrankos – a true Villány red wine that winemaker Tamás Riczu is very proud of.
