Label design of KIKERICS
Symbol of the Villány Wine Region:
Colchicum hungaricum is the symbol of protection of origin, emblematizing the protection and authenticity of Villány wines.
Since 2006, the trade mark depicting colchicum hungaricum has been representing wines that are made with busy hands under supervised circumstances in one of the world's most remarkable wine regions.
Kikerics is an ancient Hungarian flower, growing and blooming early on the southern hillside of Szársomlyó, thanks to the warm sun of the region.
Colchicum hungaricum is a protected flower of the Hungarian flora and fauna,
similarly to the origin and character of the Villány wines that are a national treasure of Hungarian winemaking.
The use of this symbol is restricted to wines, complying with the very strict qualification criteria in the wine region that are also ensured and confirmed by a wine judging
committee, based on their anonymous approval using sensory organs. Winemakers need to meet these very strict requirements in order to be allowed to use the denomination of PDO Villány (protected designation of origin).
The origin and symbol of our Kikerics wine:

From year to year, the winery is paying tribute with this light red wine to our wonderful
wine region and manifests our strong commitment to quality winemaking.
The Villány Wine Region is the first Hungarian wine region where wines are subject to a
qualification procedure regarding origin protection prior to be put on the market.
The wines are classified as 'classicus', 'premium' or 'super premium' with protected designation of origin by a 10-member Wine Judging Committee based on an anonymous organoleptic rating procedure.
The following criteria are to be met for the three categories:
